Reckless Operation In Ohio

Reckless operation is a broad traffic charge.  You can be sited for reckless operation for exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 25mph, failing to yield to a pedestrian, stopping abruptly in a lane of traffic, getting in an accident, etc.

 

Penalties of Reckless Operation

For a first offense in a 12-month period Reckless Operation carries a $150 fine.  While most moving violations are 2 point violations, reckless operation is a 4 point violation.  A judge also has the option of suspending your license for a reckless operation charge.  Penalties increase if you are charged with more than one Reckless Operation charge in a 12 month period.
